Shaman

Besides becoming the next great book cover artist, I also want to become the next great trading card game artist. I figured that one of the qualities that these companies look for is creating a distinctive character in a distinctive environment. With that in mind, I made a little something like this:

I'm working on another fun piece right now, and I'll post it in the coming weeks. I promise that I won't neglect this blog like I have in ages past, so stay tuned!

This is awesome! You nailed this one, and the background is as great as the central figure. Very powerful, great mood and love the lighting.

Just came across your blog. I'm envious. The "Journey" illustration in your first post is now officially one of my favorite illustrations of all time. I wish there was a poster.

I agree with the rest very nicely done. This painting really nailed it. It must have taken forever, but the background detail and composition works great. The firgure is extremely nicely rendered too. great new work.

Thanks guys!

ted-Don't worry, one of these days I'll figure out how to get decent prints made of my work, and then everyone can have copies of my silly work.

Scott-I hope so. Hopefully they'll see something in my work this year that they didn't notice before.

andrei-the sad part of that is that I didn't focus the lighting until the last minute. One of my friends pointed out how much more dramatic it could be, and I couldn't deny it. As a result, I'm left with bunches of detail that I had to just suck up pride with and just paint over.

david malan-I've definitely had work that took me longer than this, but at least the time I spent shows. Maybe that's a bad thing? Anyway, here it is.

Ken-When do I get to see the cool new Ken surprise art? Thanks for saying hi, though. Sometimes I miss working with you guys, but then I remember dealing with certain customers and co-workers. Wild stuff.

dustin, ana banana fo-fana, sergi-thanks!
